Keep the lights on | Stop the dismantling of the cultural heritage sector

Flanders is cutting 47 million euros from its culture budget, with heritage organisations being hit the hardest. Museums, archives, heritage libraries and the organisations that support them are all affected. This brings 25 years of cultural heritage policy to a halt.

This is no small matter. Behind the numbers are the people who preserve, connect and give a voice to what would otherwise be lost. People who create spaces for interaction, participation and democracy. What we will lose as a result of the planned cuts cannot simply be rebuilt.

That is why we are calling on everyone’s help to keep the lights on in the heritage sector.

Send an email to Minister Caroline Gennez’s office and join us in calling for continued investment in the heritage that connects us.
